Magic is building the future of human-computer interaction: natural language chat that is capable of handling all possible human requests. Previous attempts at building such interfaces (Siri, Google Now, etc.), are not very capable, because they are limited by the current state of Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning, which are only capable of fulfilling a small fraction of most people’s requests. While putting humans on the other end of the chat system solves this problem, it is expensive and difficult to scale. Magic has proven a high degree of market demand and traction for this type of service, and is building a novel type of hybrid human/machine intelligence that will enable it to scale rapidly and maintain high quality.
We are looking for engineers that understand real-world business problems and can deploy code to production on a rapid cycle and see measurable impact. Magic’s engineering task is to use software as a weapon to tame a staggering level of real-world complexity. We test our code on live firehose of real data every day. We stay up late coding and we love it. We like to use the latest and greatest technologies but we also know when a quick bash script is the right solution. We are highly iterative. We are relentless. We don’t stop until the job is done.
